Session 5: Planning a Multimedia Presentation on Jesus Colon

The purpose of this workshop session is to enable course participants to collaborate in grade level teams in planning an original multimedia/power point presentation (no fewer than 15 slides) or web page that applies what they have learned about Jesus Colon to the development of a grade/age appropriate author’s study that is standards-based and that integrates social studies, language arts, and reading.

Teacher candidates are to fashion their presentations adapting the information/information technologies used in the American Writers Series and TeachersNetwork.org.

We will review the American writer’s series to identify how each featured writer is described and presented. For example:
1. The life and times of the writer, including connections to or relationships with other writers.
2. His/her works in context using photos/videos.
3. Examples of primary source documents such as drafts of work in-progress, unpublished manuscripts.
4. Interviews with leading authorities.
5. Links to relevant websites.

We will also review one of Teachers Network.org units to analyze the content and structure of the teacher page and student page of Peggy Maslow’s Taking Action Against Indifference: Eli Wiesel’s Night.

Assignment
