Classroom Clips is an online activity that uses videos of classroom lessons as a platform for discussing how educational theories and methods can be translated into practice.   The goal of the activity is to enable education classes to observe classroom situations firsthand and engage in a discussion of how these concepts are translated into practice.  Students will learn to recognize teaching methods, strategies and standards in videos of authentic classroom situations. Questions based on the videos about concepts of mathematics education provide a forum for discussion. Responses can be automatically submitted to the instructor via email.  In-depth discussion can take place online through written analysis or discussion boards.
Education students have the opportunity to compare their own experiences with current theories of education and their practical application in the classroom. This activity provides a common experience from which students and instructors can envision optimum classroom practice.
