NETs.Work builds the capacity of participating college faculty to develop technology skills, integrate technology with their course work, transform pre-service education, and to develop a cadre of practioners who are able to use technology to enhance student comprehension and success.

NETs.Work is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers for Technology (PT3) program. NETs.Work's partners include 70 faculty from nine campuses of the City University of New York, Ohio State University, Kingsbridge Academy, Community School District #10, NYC Board of Education, and Jane Addams Vocational High School. Professionals from the Advanced Educational Systems at the New York University School of Medicine, under the leadership of Dr. Martin Nachbar, provide technical training, support, state-of-the-art facilities, and powerful models of learning and technology use.

Faculty are supported in the development of their projects with workshops, small-group training, telephone consultation, one-on-one mentoring, and collaborative peer support. Faculty meet for cross-campus training. project development, and peer feedback. Mini-grants are awarded to support faculty projects, scholarly writing and presentations, and for catalyst activities that will spread the projects and lessons learned.

Achievements include:
The incorporation of online projects into course offerings of almost all participating faculty
Self-support technical systems that have developed at several sites
The creation of full-time technology positions and student/faculty support squads at many schools
Faculty's increasingly sophisticated technology and instructional computing skills
Increased interaction with IT staff members
The community approach that has developed throughout the program for troubleshooting and collaboration
